Effective July 1, 2023, all short-term rentals (residential dwellings or bedrooms rented for 30 days or less) in Chatham must obtain a rental certificate from the Town Health Division prior to rental. The $50 certificate is valid March 1 – February 28, must be renewed annually, and is non-transferable. Occupancy is limited to two per legal bedroom plus two additional occupants, and inspections by both Health and Building divisions are required.
Licensing and Permits
Chatham requires hosts to obtain an STR license or permit before listing their property on platforms like Airbnb or VRBO. An inspection is required as part of the permitting process.
