Effective November 7, 2023, new Short-Term Rental licenses are not being issued per Ordinance O-2023-006; only 15 existing permitted STR addresses remain. Vacation Rentals (which do not require owner occupancy) are still permitted in the C-1, RR, and R-4 zones in the downtown core. All owners must obtain a permit, business license, and Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) Certificate, and complete a rental inspection.
Licensing and Permits
Pismo Beach requires hosts to obtain an STR license or permit before listing their property on platforms like Airbnb or VRBO. An inspection is required as part of the permitting process.
