STRs are defined as a home or portion of a home rented for 30 consecutive days or less. Two registration types exist: Primary Residence (where the host lives at least 275 days per year) and Non-Primary Residence (any owned residential property that is not the primary residence). ADUs and JADUs are not eligible for STR use, and the number of units allowed as STRs on a property is limited based on the total number of qualified dwelling units.
Licensing and Permits
Long Beach requires hosts to obtain an STR license or permit before listing their property on platforms like Airbnb or VRBO. An inspection is required as part of the permitting process.
