The Town of North Topsail Beach imposes a 3% occupancy tax on gross receipts from the rental of accommodations within the Town's corporate limits, with proceeds dedicated to beach nourishment. The tax does not apply to private residences or cottages rented for less than 15 days in a calendar year or to stays of 90 or more continuous days by the same person. Rentals are also subject to State and applicable local sales and use tax, and operators must register with the N.C. Department of Revenue.
