Residents raised concerns including noise, parking, safety/code violations, erosion of neighborhood feel, and that STRs generate no taxes for the Town (only the State).
Suggested town actions discussed included restricting 'party houses,' enforcing capacity limits, requiring owner-occupancy, limiting the number of STRs per block, and requiring off-street parking.
Outside input suggested defining STRs as a business (prohibited in residential zones) if rentals of less than one week occur more than twice per year, with different rules for owner-occupied versus non-owner-occupied buildings.
Other suggestions included registering all STRs, imposing stiff fines for non-compliance, grandfathering existing STRs, limiting the number of STRs one person can own, and prohibiting events such as large parties at STRs.
