On October 2, 2023, the City of Marco Island approved Resolution 23-54 nullifying Ordinance 22-08, which had required vacation rental registration, fees, and fire inspections. The City currently has no registration process for vacation rentals and does not restrict the duration or frequency of vacation rental stays in single family homes. Owners are still required to register with the Florida DBPR, Florida Department of Revenue, and Collier County Tax Collector.
