Montrealers may rent all or part of their main residence for short-term tourist stays only between June 10 and September 10, and must hold a city-issued host permit costing $300 to process. Some boroughs have additional rules, and boroughs including Lachine, Saint-Laurent, and Saint-Léonard have prohibited tourist rentals altogether. Renting a non-primary residence to tourists year-round requires a different permit and is only allowed in very specific areas such as part of Ste-Catherine Street in the Ville-Marie borough.
